Version 1.6.0


Now that the voting period for the MVM game jam is over, we can finally release an update. There are more improvements coming down the line, so be ready! Give us a follow if you'd like to be updated when new builds are released.

This week, we've been busy.  We've heard your feedback and we've made a lot of awesome new changes. We really wanted to tap into the dark atmosphere of the game, so we've made a few design decisions to really tap into that.

First off, we overhauled the weapons and enemies. You'll notice a great deal of fixes in the changelog and as soon as you start up the game. We slowed down some of the enemy attacks, but  be wary! Some enemies will snuff your torch and the final boss has some newfound rage, watch yourself!

  • Overhauled weapons completely; no more floating guns. All new custom revolver and shotgun animations added
  • Added sparks to weapons which light up the room when firing

v1.5.0

  • Added miniboss & boss cutscenes
  • Added melee enemy attack animation
  • Slowed the rate at which enemies could attack, they used to be able to hit the player rapidly while in close quarters
  • Changed ability on fast insect enemies that used to snuff lit sconces to snuff the player's lantern instead (with a 2.5s cooldown)
  • Fixed the inconsistent oil drain rate and made the UI lantern oil space more accurate
  • Increased the rate at which oil depletes
  • Decreased the oil cost for lighting torches
  • Added new sconce collection system and UI component to show the number of sconces lit and the total number of  sconces
  • Changed ground and ceiling spikes to gold to make them more prominent and fit the corrupted gold theme better
  • Fixed issue with minecart that would allow player to walk in the railroad scene
  • Fixed issue with doors and minecarts that allowed enemies to hit the player while transitioning
  • Reduced the rate of fire of the revolver and increased the delay from reloading to shooting based on the number of expended bullets (longer reload if the player's clip is empty)
  • Removed ability to rapidly swap between weapons and fire
  • Reduced final boss HP  and shield enemy's shield health to be in line with the new slower rate of fire
  • Updated the font to use the same pixel font within the menu
  • Changed .exe name to "Blood and Gold" and updated icon to cowboy head
